Please read carefully as things have changed since last year:
We have added Saturday, December 5, 2015 as a signup day. We will still be in the NORTH LOBBY of the NEA District Fair Expo Building from 10am to at least 4pm. This will be the last opportunity to sign up for the Goodfellows and/or Christmas for Kids programs.
This year, we will be having sign-up days on
November 7th and November 21st starting at 10am and ending at 4pm, unless we need to stay later. We may add additional days based on turnout on the 7th. Sign-up will be held at the NEA District Fairgrounds, 7001 Johnson Avenue, Jonesboro, in the South Lobby.
Applicants must provide the following:
- Current photo ID for all adults in the household
- Proof of ALL income and expenses for household (DHS benefit summary, HUD letter, check stubs, etc.)
- Proof of current address (utility bill or lease agreement)
- Proof of age (birth certificate, shot record, WIC folder, etc.) for all children aged 0-12 in the household.
After signing up, approved applicants will be given an information sheet that will include:
- Applicant’s name
- Applicant’s address
- Household size (as signed up)
- Age/gender of children signed up for Christmas for Kids
- Date and time of Distribution
This information sheet should be kept and brought with the applicant to the Distribution. We will not be mailing approval letters. The information sheet is the proof that the household signed up.
When is the Goodfellows Distribution?
The 2015 Goodfellows distribution will take place on December 19th. We are planning again for a Friday evening (December 18th) distribution so that we can avoid long lines. The Friday evening distribution will be targeted to senior citizens. If a family selected for a Friday evening distribution can’t make it on Friday evening, it is perfectly fine for them to wait until Saturday.
All other applicants will be served on December 19th. The doors will open at 7:45 AM and distribution will start at 8:00 AM. Distribution should be finished by Noon and the doors will be closed at 1:00 pm.
A split distribution is in place to reduce wait times which can be especially hard on older participants. Only participants with letters stating Friday, December 18th at 7:00 PM will be served on the 18th. No toys from the Christmas for Kids program will be distributed on the evening of the 18th.
Where will the Distribution take place?
The Distribution will take place at the new NEA District Fairgrounds, located at 7001 Johnson Ave.
I missed the application deadline. Can I still get food and toys?
Walk-ins are accepted, but must wait until at least Noon to give ample opportunity for those who signed up in advance to be served. The amount of food and toys purchased is dictated by the number of applicants who submitted their application before the deadline. We can make no guarantees that walk-ins can be served by the program.
Can you deliver my food and/or toys?
I can’t make it on Saturday. Can I pick up on Monday?
Unfortunately, no. The distribution is limited to Saturday only. We must vacate the building at the end of the day and have nowhere to store the leftovers. This applies to toys as well.
My sheet says Friday/8/10:00 am but… What should I do?
Only those whose letters say Friday will be served on Friday evening as the toys will not be ready until the next morning.
If you received a Friday sheet, you can still come on Saturday if your schedule doesn’t allow for a Friday pickup.
The times are a guideline that are, in theory, supposed to cut down on the time you have to stand around waiting. If your sheet says 8:00 but you can’t be there until after 9:00, come at 9:00. If you can’t come at 10:00, come at 8:00. Life doesn’t always fit into our neat little guidelines.
What do I need to bring to the Distribution?
- A current photo ID (Driver’s License, government ID card, work-issued ID card, etc.)
- Your information sheet from when you signed up
What do I need to bring if I am picking up for my family member, neighbor, etc.?
- Their notification letter (will be taken at registration desk)
- A copy of their photo I.D.
- A letter or note signed by them stating that you will pick up their food.
